The Problem
Drinks can look the same whether they are too hot, too cold, or just right. Smart Thermo Thermos was invented to make that information easier to see.

The Solution
Smart Thermo Thermos combines a reusable cup with sensors, a settable temperature gauge, and a color-changing exterior. A person would set the drink temperature they want. A temperature sensor would measure the liquid. A small controller would compare that reading to the gauge setting and tell the cup which color to display. Green means the drink is at the temperature you chose.

The Science Behind the Idea
Smart Thermo Thermos uses ideas from electronics and design. These are possible technologies that could be used to build a working prototype.
Electronic temperature sensors can measure temperature and send information to a controller. In this concept, a sensor would sit where it can read the liquid inside the cup.
A temperature gauge on the thermos could let a person set the drink temperature they want. The controller would compare the real drink temperature to that setting. When they match, the cup turns green. That is what “just right” means in this invention.
A small programmable controller could receive the temperature measurement, compare it to the gauge setting, and determine which color should appear.

Our Prototype
Every invention starts with an idea. Smart Thermo Thermos began as a hand-drawn concept showing how a smart cup could use technology and color to communicate information about a drink.

The team's first notebook sketch: a color-changing smart cup with a straw, handle, USB charging, and a four-color guide. Later ideas added a settable temperature gauge and a heart-rate sensor in the handle.

Brooklyn Jones, Chynna Lewis, and Jannessa Higgins created Smart Thermo Thermos together as a school project. They are a three-girl team working side by side to earn a great grade and share a useful idea.
